A key suspect in the murder of The Star Journalist Eric Oloo was released on Wednesday.
The chief inspector Ms Sabina Kerubo in whose house the body of the late Oloo was found on November 21 had spent two weeks in police custody before Siaya Principal Magistrate James On'gondo ordered for her release.
The order came after detectives in the case pleaded with the court to be given more time to investigate the suspect's involvement in the murder.
The detectives, however, withdrew the charges against her on the grounds that they had not found evidence that connected her to the crime.
Ms Kerubo will now become a witness for the prosecution after her file was closed.
The suspect is alleged to have been staying together with the late journalist for approximately two years before the tragic death.
Reports from Nation indicate that two other suspects, Victor Ogola Luta and Franklin Joel Luta, are believed to have killed the journalist.
It is alleged that they physically assaulted him until he died. It has however not yet been established as to what exactly led to the confrontation that resulted in Oloo's death.
The two are expected to take a plea on December 18 after a court-ordered for them to undergo a mental assessment. They were also allocated State lawyers.
"Victor and Franklin are not able to afford private lawyers. They will get state lawyers. They will be held at Siaya Police Station until they return to court on December 18, 2019," Justice Roseline Aburili ruled as quoted by The Standard.
The mother of the late journalist has requested the DCI to help the widow to access the late Oloo's documents.
"We request DCI officers handling the case to help his wife collect documents including his ID card and his mobile phone, which Kerubo still has," Keziah Oloo stated as quoted by Nation.
