The rift between Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has widened.
Ali has now said that Joho, who has declared interest in the country's top seat, can only be a president of 'slay kings'.
The first term lawmaker said that the county boss does not have what it takes to ascend to power as he has been claiming in public events.
He insisted that the governor, also ODM Deputy Party leader, still has a long way to go if he wants to rise to power.
Ali, a former KTN's Jicho Pevu investigative journalist, also told Joho that politics of intimidating other leaders will not take him anywhere.
“If you want to be a president, there is one president I agree you can become. The president of slay kings, but you cannot become the president of the Republic of Kenya with lack of maturity. We are no longer in politics of personalities. Politics where you are praised. Politics where you want everyone to fear you," he said during a public event in his backyard over the weekend.
The lawmaker accused Joho of intimidating Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to remain powerful in the region.
The remarks of the lawmaker come after Joho revealed that ODM leader Raila Odinga has hatched a plot to block Deputy William Ruto, who is one of the front-runners in the contest, from emerging victorious in the 2022 race to State House.
In a quick rejoinder Ruto’s allies asked Joho to clear his name from drug trafficking claims.
