Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis has condoled with the families of those whom their loved ones perished in a tragic road accident at Eldama-Ravine - Eldoret road where five people lost their lives.
The accident which occurred early this morning claimed the lives of five. Taking to Facebook, the county boss condoled with families and friends of the deceased describing how shocking it was for the accident to occur at such a time.
"It is with shock and sorrow that I have learned of the tragic accident along Eldama Ravine - Eldoret (Kabunyony junction) road early today where five young people perished. With a heavy heart, I wish to condole with family and friends who have lost their loved and dear ones," said the governor.
The governor went ahead to pray for the families urging motorists to observe caution during this new year festive season by driving safely.
"My heart goes out to you during your time of sorrow and my prayers are with you and family. We pray God Almighty to grant you solace during this period of mourning. It is also my prayer that as we usher in the new year, motorists must be cautious and vigilant on the roads. Drive safely and save lives,"
Eldama ravine police commander Rashid Mohammad said that the group of young adults were from a party.
They were heading home after the party when the vehicle veered off the road, hit a culvert and landed in a ditch. It is a self-inflicted road accident,” Mohammad said. The bodies were taken to a local county morgue as identification is underway
