There was drama at a Nairobi court on Friday after a suspect accused the presiding magistrate of plotting his death.
The man, only identified as Rasta, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Roselyn Onyango to respond to charges of littering within the Central Business District (CBD).
However, things took a dramatic turn when the accused shouted at the magistrate, accusing her of planning his death.
He claimed to know her, and abused her while making the claim.
The accused, who was arrested in the company of others on October 9, made the remarks while facing away from the magistrate, raining insults at her.
"Whom do you think you are, you are very stupid. That's why you are planning my death," he said, prompting the magistrate to order his admission to a mental hospital.
He later admitted to the magistrate that he was sick at the time, stating that he could barely stand.
"As you see me standing here, I cannot stand comfortably. I am very sick madam," he told the magistrate, who directed that the case be mentioned on December 16.
To uphold cleanliness within the CBD, its considered illegal to litter anyhow, with litter expected to be dumped in designated areas.
