He spoke during a meeting today attended by members of the Kericho County Assembly committee members of Agriculture with farmers.

The Kapsoit MCA also called out the KTDA leadership over the bonuses and asked for their dismissal.

"We shall chart a way forward on how we will delink Tea factories in Kericho from KTDA and Kick out the bad, corrupt and insensitive leadership at KTDA that has continued to get fattened by the sweats of our people" he lamented.

The meetings that were attended by over hundreds of farmers was held at Sosiot grounds. This after the CEC in charge of Agriculture in the county met with chairmen of tea buying centres supplying Tea to Tegat and Totor Tea factories.

They also called for the DCI, EACC and DPP to 'swing into action' and investigate the sad state of affairs at KTDA.

In September farmers in Belgut supplying tea to the Tegat Tea Factory engaged police in running battles when they demonstrated over bonuses. This is after making good their threat to boycott plucking tea over the 2019 bonus payments.

Roads were blocked as farmers demanded to be addressed by the management of the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) affiliated factory. The farmers argued that farmers supplying their produce to Tegat Tea Factory received lower payments compared to other factories in the region.
