Daniel Muoti said laxity in solving the murder has prompted the locals to resolve to mob justice.

He said the residents called for the key suspects' arrests but nothing seems to be going on.

"The police should do their work and ensure that justice is served to the slain young man. They have shown no progress in the investigations thereby angering the locals," Muoti said.

Muoti spoke at a public baraza in Mwingi on Tuesday.

He said they could have not taken the law into their own hands if the police had shown progress in the case.

Muoti condemned the act of mob justice, stating that due procedure should be followed to ensure that justice is served.

"It's sad that two people are nursing injuries due to mob justice since last year December when the boy died, no arrests were made," he said.

He urged the area police boss John Nyamu to launch investigations into the matter for the locals to stop taking law into their own hands.

This comes just a day after irate residents attacked a middle aged woman linking her to the death of her nephew who was killed in December last year and his body dumped in a dam.

Police officers intervened and saved the woman from being lynched by the irate locals.
