Kisii County residents who are addicted to alcohol have been warned against careless drinking during the Christmas festive season.
Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi on Thursday said alcohol addicts more especially men thronging chang'aa dens won't be spared.
"We have more police officers to intensify patrols across the county to ensure no men are thronging to illicit brew selling joints during this Christmas season to consume the outlawed brew," said the county boss.
He said liquor sellers caught selling alcohol without licencing won't be done carelessly.
Kigochi urged residents to celebrate Christmas responsibly because alcohol consumption in excess is harmful to human health.
"I am appealing to the county government of Kisii to control the number of liquor outlets as police officers will be alert to ensure operational hours are adhered to. Licencing of liquor joints will help in curbing illicit drinks, substandard and counterfeit beverages," he added.
He urged parents not to drink too much and forget their children who will be reporting back to school on January 2, 2018.
The county boss insisted that the national government will work closely with the county government to curb crime resulting from drug abuse.
