Turbo Member of Parliament Janet Sitienei has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to honour his promise of supporting Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential race.
Speaking during a funds drive in Kamurgor, Turbo Constituency on Sunday, Sitienei said Ruto has supported President Kenyatta for two terms, adding that it was time for the Head of State to return the favour.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto agreed that the president will rule for ten years then Ruto ten years, and it’s on record that they will support each other. I wonder what happened to the promise,” said Sitienei.
The first-time Member of Parliament said it’s time for the president to publicly declare support DP Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, in order to calm the rising political temperatures being witnessed in the country.
“I want to ask President Kenyatta to revive the love between him and Ruto where they used to call each other brother. Where did that love go?” asked the MP.
She called on Kenyans to maintain peace in the country, adding that the electorate should push for peaceful coexistence and not allow politicians to divide them based on their political or tribal affiliations.
