The decision by Nyamira acting governor Amos Nyaribo to honour court summons and subsequently detach himself from woes facing County Secretary Erick Ochana saved him from a possible arrest and prosecution.

High Court Judge Nduma Nderi had instructed the police to have the ODM deputy governor arrested to answer contempt of court charges.

And in a tightly guarded court, Nyaribo would appear on Thursday where he defended allegations mounted against him.

"The truth is the allegations mounted against me are flimsy and strange. I am yet to know why the petitioner has dragged me to the case.

"I am not in a position to appoint, dismiss, or nominate public officers. Therefore, the allegations are unfair," he defended himself.

His sudden change of heart could have the petitioner now dragging governor John Nyagarama, who has been out of the country for treatment for two months.

In his petition, Vincent Omao avers that Nyaribo, unduly used his powers to kick out Mr. Onchana despite the court order barring the county from doing so.
