This is despite the party leader Raila Odinga's silence on whether or not he will be in the race, with latest details indicating that the party will atlest participate in the contest for the top seat, though its candidate is yet to be revealed.

According to the Standard, part of the plan includes forming an alliance, which might see Odinga team up with President Uhuru Kenyatta in the spirit of their 2018 truce.

This, according to the paper, explains the joint rallies between Raila's ODM members and a section of Uhuru's allies in Mt Kenya region, under the Kieleweke tag, the plan being to prepare their (Uhuru and Raila) supporters psychologically.

On Sunday, for instance, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga revealed that they were divided into three groups and dispatched to Nyandarua, Meru and Kasipul Kabondo to spread the unity gospel.

The other strategy that has been put in place is the deployment of his Nyanza point men to to ready the region for both the alliance and the said referendum.

A series of rallies have already been set for the purpose.

Speaking in Kasipul, Nyando MP Jared Okello confirmed the plan, noting they are acting under Odinga's orders.

On his side, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi said that they will follow in Raila's footsteps. Himself and his Seme counterpart James Nyikal have been tasked to steer Raila's ideologies in Nyanza.

“Our leader has charted the political path through the handshake. It is our primary duty as his lieutenants to propagate it while rallying behind him without question,” he said.

Raila has since termed a referendum to expand the executive and return the country to the parliamentary governance system as one of their truce agreements in March last year.
