The department said on Thursday, waste generated from the facility will be disposed in the machine which uses a non burner technique for waste disposal.

In responding to the booming healthcare sector in Mombasa County, Health County Executive Committee Member (CeC) Hazel Koitaba said the department is putting in place measures and appropriate resources to monitor and mitigate possibilities of a hazardous fallout by ensuring that all medical facilities in the County implement appropriate, safe, and cost-effective strategies for treating, recycling, transporting and disposing healthcare waste in line with internationally accepted standards.

This comes after the Auditor-General Edward Ouko gave Governor Ali Hassan Joho's administration a clean bill of health for good usage of funds in the 2016/2017 Financial Year.

Ouko said he has seen nothing that would make him believe that public money has not been applied lawfully and in an effective way by the County Government of Mombasa.

While emphasising on the need for improved health care, Koitaba said the County Government of Mombasa will continue to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to enhance the quality of health care across the coastal county.
