Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi now wants Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala to apologise to Kenyans.
This is after Balala told people calling for his resignation over the death of 11 rhinos at Tsavo East Park to 'go to hell'.
"I will not resign and those calling for my resignation can go to hell!” the influential Minister said on Monday while addressing journalists in Mombasa.
Speaking on NTV AM live show, Wamatangi criticised Balala's remarks and asked him to issue an apology.
"For his own good, it is better for Balala to issue an apology. You have to re-wire your fuse. If you show people you are short-fused, it tells a lot," he said on Tuesday.
The second-time Senator noted the remarks were in bad faith and warned they might haunt the CS in the future.
"Balala let his emotions get the best of him. God forbid he goes for vetting anywhere else, it is going to be tough," Wamatangi added.
The embattled CS is today expected to appear before the National Assembly Environment and Natural Resources Committee to explain the cause of the deaths of the 11 black rhinos after they were translocated from Nairobi and Nakuru to Tsavo East National Park.
Balala has maintained he is not responsible for the deaths, adding he has set up a multi-agency team to investigate the matter.
"Uhuru Kenyatta is the only one who has appointed me here and he knows I have the capacity to run the wildlife docket. Nobody is going to intimidate me,” he stated.
