A culmination of boardroom wars might be the reason why Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui decided to send home the county's Public Service Board.

Sources have it that there have been wrangles between Kinyanjui and the board.

The board was constituted during his predecessor Kinuthia Mbugua's tenure.

Irregular recruitments, among other malpractices by the board are some of the major issues that contributed to a ballooning wage bill of Sh6 billion.

The board was sent home on Tuesday to allow for investigations over what Kinyanjui termed as gross misconduct.

“The board, staff and its secretariat have been suspended for 45 days to allow for the investigations,” he said in a statement.

Among those sent on compulsory leave include the board’s chairman Waithanji Mutiti, secretary James Mbugua, members Peter Mwarania, Monica Cherutich, and Richard Tutah – all allies of former governor Mbugua.
