The Environment Ministry has since announced plans to kick out people from the forest in a bid to preserve the water catchment zone, kicking off wrangles with politicians.

Consequently, politicians from the Kalenjin community have stood up against the move, a move Bichachi is now questioning, noting that such are not new to Kenyans.

Speaking on Sunday, he noted that the government has repeatedly evicted people to give room for projects, wondering what's special about the people leaving in Mau.

"This country repossesses land from people all the time. When we are building roads, when we are building dams, we relocate people. What's so special about Mau no one understands," Bichachi said on KTN's Inside Politics.

He also took issue with Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot who has taken the leading position in opposing the evictions, with the support of fellow Kalenjin leaders.

The communication strategist observed that Cheruiyot is playing politics with the issue, noting that Environment CS Keriako Tobiko is simply doing his constitutional job.

"By definition, the CS is doing his job. The reason why the senator is trying to say politics is he is trying to invoke the ethnic background of the CS to whip up emotions," he added.

The remarks came only minutes after Cheruiyot claimed that the ministry did not plant even a single shrub in the forest to claim to be preserving it.
