Kisii Police commander Martin Kibet said the deceased who could not be identified immediately was crossing the road when he was hit by the speeding car.

"The car was headed to Keumbu from Kisii town. The driver was over speeding when he hit the man as he crossed the road killing him on spot," said Kibet.

The driver sped off from the scene in fear of his life. Members of the public tried to chase the car in vain.

"The driver was forced to speed-off from the scene as residents bayed for his blood. Police officers from Keumbu picked the deceased body and took it to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue for preservation as the search for the killer drive is ongoing," the County Police Commander noted.

He also warned drivers plying the route to drive cautiously saying accidents may be at peak given that most children are at home during this August holiday.
