The liver is an organ in the body that helps with digestion and ridding your body of toxic substances.
Here are five signs your liver is in a bad state;
1. Your skin and eyes appear yellowish
This is in other words referred to as jaundice. Usually, when there is a problem with the liver, the skin and eyes appear pale, yellowish and weak. This is caused by a substance called bilirubin produced when the blood cells break down due to liver problems.
2. Loss of appetite
Usually, loss of appetite is a signal for liver failure or liver disease. People with liver problems often lose their urge for eating due to the production of substances called cytokines.
3. Swelling of legs and arms
The legs and the arms swell because of cumulation of fluid. Liver failure comes with a build-up of unhealthy fluids in these areas of the body causing inflammation.
4. Confusion and memory problems
People with damaged or dysfunctional liver have confusion and memory problems as a result of cumulation of toxins in the brain. Insomnia (lack of sleep) has also been reported.
When the liver is damaged, the skin becomes weak and hence little bruises cam grow worse. Bleeding can also be experienced even with slightest injuries because the liver has failed to make enough blood-clotting proteins.
