Zedekiah Oduma Academy headteacher; Dida Weswa has been arrested over an exam registration hitch involving a number of 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates in the school.
The school in Bondo, Siaya County failed to register some of its students for the upcoming KCPE examinations.
Names of three students at the school were found missing on the examination register, barely three weeks before the national exams kickoff.
Following the revelation, the parents of the affected students proceeded to the sub-county education office where they registered their complain.
The parents said they had paid Sh2,800 for for registration of their children early this year.
Reports on Citizen Digital indicate that Weswa was arrested after the parents reported the matter at the education office.
Confirming the arrest, Bondo Sub-county police commander Anthony Wafula, said investigations have been launched to know why the students were never registered.
The sub-county Director of Education, Mr Elisha Omalla, said he will do everything possible to unearth the cause of the hitch.
“I was called by the OCS Usenge Police Station about the same and I told him to send the parents to my office. We shall find out what happened,” said Omalla as quoted by Standard.
