Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko has been summoned over the planned Mau phase 2 evictions.
The National Parliament has since asked the CS to appear before it to shed more light on the eviction of more than 60,000 people living the area.
Parliamentary Environment Committee Chair Kareke Mbiuki has confirmed the summon through a statement released to the media houses.
The CS has been faulted for not involving the local leaders in the process of eviction before the matter came into the public domain.
“As a committee we will be inviting the CS next week when parliament resumes, to come and shed more light to parliament on the proposed phase II evictions before the exercise is conducted,” reads the statement, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
“The CS should have involved the local leaders and those who will be affected,” added the statement.
Over 4,000 pupils have been left in a state of dilemma after the government ordered for the closure of more than 15 schools in the area as evictions loom.
Leaders from the region, led by Senator Ole Kina Ladema and his Kericho Counterpart Aaron Cheruyoit have asked Tobiko to provide documents showing the eviction order.
Deputy President William Ruto on Friday chose to steer clear of the eviction issue when he toured Narok County.
