Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali’s family has dismissed claims that they have sidelined the legislator’s former fiancée, Petronila Munyasa, in her son’s burial arrangements.
Speaking to journalists, the elder brother, Mcleans Ambani said that the speculations are not only ill-timed but also ill-intended.
He questioned why they could do such a thing when they had nothing against her for a long time even before the son died. He also said that they are aware that she is the biological mother of the deceased.
He also said that she will be accorded the support needed at the time when she is mourning the death of her beloved son. Chris Atema Masaka who reportedly drowned in a swimming pool while attempting to save the life of a young girl in Arizona, United States of America last week.
“We have no problem with our sister-in-law. We know she is the biological mother of our late son, Chris Masakah, a US marine who drowned in a swimming pool and she has nothing to worry about. As a family, we welcome her here,” said Mr Ambani.
The family disclosed that there are plans to ensure the body is flown into the country to allow for burial to take place after his untimely death. Police have already embarked on a probe to determine what might have killed the 35-year-old US Marine.
His brother Robert Ayisti has confirmed the plans to bring his body back into the country pending burial plans.
“He had been in Arizona for only one day, it is sudden death, as a family, we shall give a comprehensive statement on what exactly occurred once we have been briefed by the MP who has travelled to the USA,” Ayitsi told journalists, as quoted by Standard.
The sister of the deceased also said that his colleagues in Iowa have planned to organize a mass where they will pay their last tributes to the deceased. The lawmaker has asked the US police to speed up probe into the cause of the death.
