A middle-aged man selling meat at a local butchery in Nyacheki, Kisii County was on Monday evening arrested for allegedly selling bad meat to members of the public.
Area administrator Charles Ogeto said members of the public tipped police officers about the suspect Brian Nyabaro who has been selling bad meat.
"A local who bought meat from the butchery couldn't cook it since it was smelling by the time he arrived home. He returned to the butchery to report the matter but Nyabaro didn't want to hear anything," said Ogeto.
Ogeto said the frustrated client reported the matter to other locals who upon questioning the butcher man he refused to talk to them prompting them to report the matter to police officers.
"Nyabaro was rude to locals who wanted to know why he was selling bad meat. Now that he was arrested he will tell police officers why he has been selling bad meat," he said.
The chief insisted that the suspect won't be released despite him claiming to be untouchable.
"He will be taken to court to be charged since selling bad meat endangers consumers' lives," he added.
