President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday held a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in Vancouver, Canada.

According to State House, the meeting addressed a number of issues including; blue economy, adding that both governments agreed to work together to transform the lives of their people.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta held bilateral discussions with his host PM @JustinTrudeau of Canada on the margins of the #WD2019 conference in Vancouver. The President thanked the PM for Canada's role in the successful hosting of the Sustainable Blue Economy held last year in Nairobi,” State House tweeted.

The president also thanked Canada for showing its readiness to back the Kenyan government in achieving its economic goals. 

According to State House, President Kenyatta also expressed gratitude to his host, after he was warmly received during his visit.

 “President Kenyatta noted with gratitude Canada's support for Kenya's nascent blue economy sector especially in the setting up of the Coast Guard Unit and the establishment of marine aquarium and fish processing facilities,” State House said.

During his presentation in the Women Delivers conference 2019,  Uhuru pledged to end Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) before he leaves office.

He disclosed that his government has supported women in different ways including appointing them to top government posts.
