5 family members escaped death narrowly after unknown people set their house on fire on Thursday night in Bombeta village, Mosocho in Kisii County.
The family led by Kefah Makung’a said around 10 pm their 4-roomed house was set on fire by unknown people.
“We ate supper well and retired to bed. At 10 pm, I heard goats crying from the next room so I rushed to see what was happening. I was shocked to see the whole house was on fire,” he said.
Makung’a said he quickly called the other 4 who were not aware of what was happening.
Area chief, Fidelis Nyamechu, condemned the incident and said whoever set the house on fire will be arrested and prosecuted.
“Nothing was salvaged following the inferno. 3 goats, over 50 chickens, 10 sacks of maize, 5 beans, beddings and 1 sack of millet were burnt,” he said.
He called on well-wishers to help the family financially to start life afresh.
