Speaking in Ugenya, Siaya County on Sunday, Orengo who doubles up as a Senate's Minority Leader said that the DP can easily be impeached.

This has led to a debate on whether he is planning to file an impeachment motion against Ruto.

Speaking on Citizen TV's News Night on Tuesday, Orengo defended himself saying that he has no plans of ousting Ruto and was just contributing to the ongoing debate about the need for him to exit.

"I have heard some people pushing for the Deputy President's resignation over a number of things and I was just giving them an alternative option. That doesn't mean I have a motion ready to push for his ouster," he said.

He as well noted that he never mentioned the DP anywhere, proof that he was not necessarily referring to Ruto as a person but was generally referring to the office held by the latter.

"I only said the Deputy President. That doesn't necessarily mean Ruto," he added.

The remarks have since been met with hostility by forces allied to Ruto, who are now linking them to opposition leader and the DP's main political rival Raila Odinga.

Speaking at the parliament buildings on Tuesday, they claimed that Orengo is working under Raila's orders who is banking on the same to elevate himself to power.
