First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Tuesday, March 2, 2018, arrived in Spain on an official government function.
The first lady through an official Twitter statement said she is in Spain to attend the World Travel and Tourism Council's Global Summit where she will represent Kenya in showcasing its culture and opportunities in the tourism sector.
"I am delighted to be in Spain for the World Travel and Tourism Council's Global Summit. The summit is the highest-level gathering of travel and tourism leaders in the world affording countries an opportunity to showcase their rich cultures and opportunities in the tourism sector," read the tweet.
Kenya has been one of the most sought tourism centres in East Africa, Africa and the world at large and the trip by the first lady is expected to woo more tourists and further boost the sector.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta was received at the Seville Santa Justa Train Station by Spain's Secretary of State for Tourism Isabbel Maria Oliver Sagreras and Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Najib Balala.
The annual World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit brings together leaders from public sector organisations and private sector companies to discuss and tackle the most important issues in the travel sector. This year's conference will the 19th Global Summit.
