Political analyst and governance expert Brian Mutie has faulted Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi for declaring himself the new chief of opposition.

The former Deputy Prime Minister made the declaration late last year, months after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga reconciled with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

But speaking on Tuesday, Mutie said that the seat is actually held by National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, judging by the dictates of the law.

He said that the political divided is divided into the majority and minority wings, making the Minority Chief in the larger National Assembly the leader of the opposing side.

"We are operating under a new constitution which doesn't have the opposition leader by rather the minority leader.

"If we were to stick to the opposition narrative, then Mbadi is the opposition chief," he advised.

Mutie was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show, where he said that Mbadi who doubles up as the Suba South lawmaker is the constitutional government challenger currently.

But this comes only hours after Mudavadi fired salvos at the state over the rising levels of graft in the country, also including Raila and Uhuru in the same.

He accused the two of failing to use their newfound unity to salvage the nation from the corruption menace and is now threatening to call for mass action to push for quick action.

But according to the commentator, this is just another unrealizable dream as Mudavadi, he said, lacks the influence to call people out to the streets.

"He lacks the influence and should not compare himself to Raila who has the ability to call Kenyans out for mass actions," he added.
