Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua now wants former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka to undergo lifestyle audit.
Mutua said Raila, Kalonzo and other opposition politicians who served in past government regimes must be audited.
Mutua says that Raila and Kalonzo must account for their massive wealth.
"As the national government pushes for state officers to declare their wealth and undergo lifestyle audit, Raila and Kalonzo should also present themselves for auditing," Mutua said.
He made the remarks during an interview on Radio Citizen on Friday.
The Machakos County boss said there were major scandals like the maize scam, Triton, and others when Raila and Kalonzo served in government.
"Lifestyle audit should cut across and everyone who served in government must undergo the audits," Mutua added.
Mutua at the same time hit out at politicians politicizing the lifestyle audit.
He said auditing of state officers is one of the key ways that will tame massive graft.
Mutua said he has presented his wealth declarations to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) for assessment and is waiting for the commission's feedback.
President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered for lifestyle audit on all state officers three weeks ago in efforts to tame runway graft in national and county governments.
However, a section of politicians is opposing the lifestyle audit directive on grounds that it is targeting particular people.
