Deputy President William Ruto’s farm manager has been arrested. The manager, Arie Dampers, was arrested on Friday after the row between Taita Taveta County government and Ruto’s farm blew out of proportion.
The County Police Commander Said Kiprotich has confirmed the arrest of the farm manager for the DP.
The Taveta Law Courts gave the Governor Granton Samboja-led government the green light to disconnect what was deemed as illegal water connections at the farm of the DP. Dampers, South African national, was arrested after the police in collaboration with officials from the Taita-Taveta Water and Sewerage Company (TAVEVO) conduct a probe on the expansive farm following complains over illegal connections at the farm.
Kiprotich said that there were attempts by the management to deny the officials entry into the farm before they finally managed to access the place after they sought for enforcement from the police.
He further said that they found a three quarter inch pipe connected at the farm and upon inspection came to notice that it had been installed at the place illegally.
“TAVEVO officials escorted by the police inspected the farm and found a three-quarter-inch pipe, which was illegally connected. It is just a small pipe,” he said.
Kiprotich said that the manager was interrogated and later freed on bond pending prosecution. He further said that they are waiting for the county government to give them further direction on what should be done afterwards before they can pull a move on the same.
