The terror suspect was arrested as he tried to access Narok Stadium, the grounds where President Uhuru is expected to lead the Madaraka Day celebration.

The suspect who has since been identified as Adan Galhai alias Urisha, was reportedly arrested for the first time on Friday night before he managed to escape.

“He wanted to enter the stadium yesterday and when searched, his National Identity Card and another Identity Card written as National Security were recovered from him. When he was being questioned about the same he escaped,” reads a police statement.

Upon interrogation, it further emerged that the suspect might have been radicalised after he allegedly converted to Islam in 2014 relocating to Eastleigh, Nairobi.

The arrest comes barely a month after the state security agencies released terror alert that Al Shabaab could be planning to stage attacks during the ongoing holy month of Ramadhan.

Further, the country has been battling radicalisation of its youths who have reportedly been blamed for the rising cases of security lapse in the nation.
