At some point, such has led to controversies, the most popular one involving Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti, popularly referred to as Jamawego by his supporters and constituents.

The governor was in mid-2016 on the spot for allegedly trying to hoodwink his citizens, when his official opening of a borehole in the county was discovered to be a fraud.

The borehole had reportedly cost the county government 11 million shillings to drill, making it a big event attended by county officials and of course the media.

Governor Awiti went ahead to cut the ribbon and turn the tap and out gushed water as county officials and present people clapped, reports the Standard Digital.

However, it took the keen eyes of a drunkard to spot a water boozer allegedly hidden behind a nearby building, from where the water pipe was connected, meaning that there was no borehole at all.

The drunkard humiliated the governor in the public accusing him of launching a fake borehole that had no water.

The openly embarrassed and angry county chief turned his anger to his Water Minister who would have to shoulder all the burden.
