A man who witnessed a light aircraft crash in Londiani has narrated of the incident.
James Gikonyo Mwangi, the owner of the farm where the chopper crashed, said he was doing his usual farm chores when he spotted the aircraft tumbling down.
Five people have lost their lives after a light aircraft crashed near Makutano Forest in Londiani, Kericho on Wednesday morning.
“The incident happened so fast. I was on the farm and I saw the plane plummeting down while spiraling out of control. All the occupants did not survive the crash,” said Mwangi.
Mwangi said the incident happened around 11:30 am.
Those who were aboard the Cesna 206-5-Y BSE are four tourists and the pilot. They were from Ikiombo in Mara headed to Lodwar.
Another resident, Joseph Wanderi, said he heard a loud bang and rushed to the scene.
“I heard a loud bang and rushed to the scene and found a huge crowd had gathered. Moments later the police arrived and joined the residents who were trying to rescue the passengers in the plane,” Wanderi said.
Rift Valley Police Commander Edward Mwamburi, who confirmed the incident, said they are yet to establish the cause of the crash.
"Investigations have been launched on what caused the crash,” said Mwamburi.
