The cancellation of a wedding ceremony by Apostle Jesse Karanja of Mizpah House of Prayer in Nakuru sent tongues wagging.
Kenyans on twitter picked the issue making it trend.
It started with the controversial city lawyer Donald Kipkorir who tweeted that no marriage minister has a right to demand medical tests.
"Apostle Karanja refused to wed Joyce Waithera and Paul Waithaka demanding multiple medical tests should be deregistered by Attorney General as a Marriage Minister & also defrocked. No Marriage Minister has a right to demand medical tests," Kipkorir said.
The tweet caused a buzz.
"You are mistaken counselor! First I don't understand which law you're quoting when saying Apostle Karanja should be defrocked. He has a responsibility to his flock & in this era of HIV AIDS, it's ridiculous to expect a man of God to just conduct a wedding while blindfolded," Mwalimu Julius tweeting @Sikunjema254 said.
One KOT member gave a testimony of how one of their neighbours got lucky after he was forced to undergo a HIV test before he could be allowed to marry.
"There was a neighbour of mine who was forced to undergo HIV test with the soon to be wife. Afterwards, he found out that the woman was positive. There was so much drama, and luckily for the guy, he was negative. He said that pastor saved his life," Wangui_b (@beccyqi) said.
It emerged that many churches demand for a HIV tests.
"Nowadays before someone decides to preside over your wedding, they ask for HIV tests," Brenda (@OGechemba) said.
