Police officers in Keumbu, Nyaribari Chache in Kisii County are hunting down a man suspected to be among the notorious cattle rustlers who escaped arrest after he was busted with two stolen cows.
Confirming the incident area chief Bernard Onchangu said the suspect was caught by police officers who were on patrol on the wee hours of Sunday morning.
"It was at 2 am when police officers from Keumbu who were on patrol cornered the suspect who they could not identify immediately driving away the two cows he had stolen. The suspect was forced to run for his dear life abandoning the two cows," said the chief.
Onchangu said cases of livestock theft will not be condoned in the area.
He called on residents to report anyone they suspect might be engaging in crime.
"Residents must cooperate with authorities to flush out criminals. We must step up efforts to flush out criminals from the area," he added.
The administrator argued that the two cows are currently at Keumbu police station.
"Anyone whose cows are missing should report to Keumbu police station so that the cows can be released as a search for the suspect is ongoing," he noted.
