The push for reforms gained momentum on Saturday after Deputy President William Ruto endorsed it but on condition, it was not about the creation of positions for some politicians in the government.

The referendum debate was ignited a few days ago by ODM leader Raila Odinga who said there was a need to change the current structure of governance which he asserted was expensive for citizens.

However, his opponents have accused him of planning to reintroduce the position of Prime Minister which would be preserved for him.

But Miguna has dismissed any efforts to change the current constitution which was promulgated in 2010 saying it has nothing to do with the challenges Kenyans are going through.

The firebrand lawyer turned an accusing finger on the governing Jubilee administration claiming it was the source of what was ailing the country.

"The Constitution IS NOT GUILTY for killing innocent citizens, or the burden of high consumer prices, taxes, trillions looted from our coffers and trillions borrowed by an illegitimate Government. Those SUBVERTING the KATIBA as it exists today will also subvert the amended one," he said in a tweet on Sunday.

In another post, Miguna reiterates that the high cost of living Kenyans are going through it is not because of the supreme law but high-level corruption by the current regime and its predecessors.

"A lot of people jumping into the bandwagon don't realise that the trillions of shillings that have been stolen were not stolen by the Constitution through recurrent expenditure. Anglo Leasing, Goldenberg, Eurobond, NYS, MoH - all the scandals have nothing to do with the Katiba," he said.
