A top member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has been discharged after secretly being admitted to hospital.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris left the Nairobi Hospital on Sunday, one week after admission.
The lawmaker said she decided to remain silent about her admission to the health facility until she knew she was out of danger.
"I kept details of my Thyroidectomy low key until I knew I was out of danger. I thank God for faith that reassured me that my work is not yet complete. I remain eager to learn and serve Him with humility," she said in a tweet.
Thyroidectomy is an operation that entails the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland.
She added:
"As I prepare to change from my hospital gown and walk out of the hospital let me share my neckline now that the staples have been removed. Aftercare is to keep it dry and apply natural oils like Vaseline, olive oil, coconut oil etc."
Among top leaders who visited the MP in hospital included former Kirinyaga gubernatorial contender Martha Karua, former Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti, Defence Cabinet Secretary Rachel Omamo and Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.
From the hospital, Passaris went to Ngara Girls High School where she presented beds, mattresses, pillows and blankets to students following a fire incident.
