A car belonging to Rangenyo Catholic Parish priest on Thursday killed a passenger after the driver lost control and landed into a ditch along the Nyamira-Miruka road.
The accident happened barely a kilometer from the Parish.
According to Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba, the car was speeding and the driver, who ran away after the accident, was unable to negotiate a sharp corner leading to the deadly crash.
The passenger was pronounced dead on arrival at the Nyamira County referral hospital.
The driver of the Toyota RAV4 registration number KCL 953L, suspected to be the priest is yet to be arrested.
The Priest, Fr Bernard Nyangeri, was not available to confirm whether he was the one behind the wheel as his phone was switched off for the entire part of Thursday evening.
Elsewhere, a middle aged man hanged himself in unclear circumstances. His wife Stella Moke found Charles Kibagendi’s (32) body dangling from the ceiling of their rented house within township sub-location.
Township Sub-location assistant chief Johnson Manyara confirmed the in incident.
The two bodies were kept at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
