Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has responded to claims that she holds dual citizenship.

Speaking exclusively in an interview with Royal Media Services-owned Inooro TV on Friday on the sidelines of an Inua Mama event in Murang'a, the outspoken lawmaker rubbished the claims.

While admitting that she stayed in the US for 20 years, the senator said that she never applied for American citizenship.

"I only have one citizenship and it is Kenyan, " she said.

There were reports that the former Nakuru County Speaker was in a list circulating around that she is among legislators who could lose their seats over dual citizenship.

She said that the claim that she has dual citizenship was pure political propaganda that being pushed by her political adversaries.

The Inua Mama member called on the people of Nakuru to ignore the claims.

She went on to say that she has received numerous calls from Nakuru residents over the matter.

Political activist Okiya Omtatah was seeking to have politicians having dual citizenship and holding positions of power to be stripped of those positions as the law does not allow those elected to power to have two nationalities.
