The arrest of renowned blogger Dennis Itumbi on Wednesday has continued eliciting mixed reactions from different persons.
Reacting to Itumbi's arrest, lawyer Nelson Havi hit out at the blogger for calling for his detention, at a time when he was handling a case regarding deportation of lawyer Miguna Miguna to Canada, after inaugurating opposition chief Raila Odinga as the people's president last year.
“Dennis Itumbi wanted me arrested, charged and disciplined by ADT for swearing an Affidavit on the whereabouts of the passport of Miguna Miguna. He also forged many documents in respect to my clients and I at that time. He flew close to the sun. See where he is now,” Havi tweeted.
Itumbi was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at Nairobi CBD, and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road for questioning.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has termed Itumbi's arrest as a strategy to divert attention from the ongoing DP William Ruto's assassination plot investigations.
Arrest of @OleItumbi is a strategy to divert attention from the La Mada meeting&plan. Was there a meeting?Did PS in charge of DCI say Ruto must be stopped Saitoti way?Who complained about assassination? And to who?The authenticity of the allegations is more important than a letter," he tweeted.
