The accident occurred at Kisero area along Kisii-Kisumu road.

Kisii County police commander Martin Kibet confirmed the fatal accident saying the driver of the probox car was speeding when the accident occurred.

"Three people whose identity could not be revealed immediately died on spot following the collision. The probox driver who was over speeding is currently fighting for his life at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital," noted Kibet.

Bodies of the deceased persons were taken to the hospital's mortuary awaiting identification.

The police boss warned motorists against speeding noting; "There is a need for motorists to adhere to the set road rules and regulations to avoid accidents. Police officers at roadblocks and those who will be on patrol won't spare any careless motorist."

He also warned bodaboda operators against carrying more than one passenger.

Kibet further expressed concerns over an increase in accidents involving motorbikes in the region.
