Speaking on Radio Citizen's Mjadala Wa Citizen show on Monday, the Makadara Member of Parliament said that ODM remains financially stable, thanks to its reliable cash flow.

He noted that the party draws its funds from the government and members through contributions and cannot go bankrupt with its good membership.

"ODM haijasota, maana sisi wanachama tunachanga na pia tunapata pesa kutoka kwa serikali. Hata sasa tumenunua nyumba mpya itakayokuwa makao makuu yetu (ODM is not bankrupt. We make our money from members' contributions and allocations from the government. The party has even purchased a new building which will house our headquarters)," he said.

The vocal politician noted that contrary to claims and widespread allegations that the party is weakening ahead of the 2022 polls, the political outfit is actually getting stronger and bigger.

The MP said ODM is currently the biggest single political party in Kenya and East Africa, likening it to the likes of South Africa's African National Congress (ANC).

"Sisi ndio chama kubwa hapa, tunapelekana na akina ANC na CCM (Tanzania's Chama Cha Mapinduzi). Sisi ni chama chenye structures sio kikabila (our party is well structured and is not a tribal outfit)," he added.

However, a recent internal audit revealed that the party is losing its popularity as a result of poor nominations, weeks after ODM's twin losses in the Ugenya and Embakasi South by-elections.
