Speaking on Saturday, the veteran politician added that the reconciliation most likely had everything to do with President Uhuru Kenyatta's appetite for Chinese loans, and was directed to bring Odinga to his side for the purpose.

He added that this was most likely the reason why the two traveled to China together.

The former Assistant Cabinet Minister argued that the plan by the Chinese was to kill the political restlessness in the nation so that Kenyan government can have a conducive environment to work and repay the loans.

"Huenda Uhuru alilazimishwa amsalimu Raila maana wachina walijua nchi ikiwa imegawanyika hawatapata pesa zao. (Its very likely that the Chinese advised Uhuru to reconcile with Raila, fearing that they will not get  their money back if Kenya remained divided)," he said.

Wamwere was speaking on Cheche at Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi, Saturday evening.

The latter who joined Raila before the 2017 polls claimed that China also included Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in the plan, considering that the Kenyan Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) was to extend into his country.

He termed this the possible reason for Museveni's recent tour of Kenya, and President Uhuru Kenyatta's move to allocate him land in Naivasha, where Uganda is set to establish a dry port.

According to Wamwere, the plan was to bring Museveni on board, considering that he had initially rejected the plan, and to make him accept the deal and go for a loan for the same.

"Ninavyoona huenda pia walimshirikisha Museveni na ndio maana alikuja Kenya na akapewa shamba. (I find it likely that Museveni is also part of the plan, hence his visit and allocation of land)," added Wamwere.
