Two former governors have been handed a major blow by the Kisumu High Court, lands and environment division.
Former Governors; Jack Ranguma (Kisumu), and Evans Kidero(Nairobi), alongside a Ministry of Lands official have been barred by the court from putting up structures on parcels of land allegedly encroaching on wetlands.
The two leaders and Lands Ministry official Alice Kaudia have been accused of invading a wetland in Kisumu County.
Reports on the Standard indicate that the case was filed by Michael Nyaguti, a Kisumu County resident.
In his suit, Mr Nyanguti claimed that the three own pieces of land around Lake Victoria.
He alleged that Ranguma owns two plots in Korando, Kidero owns seven, while Kaudia owns two plots in Kogony.
The three, however, denied all the allegations against them.
Justice Stephen Kibunjia of the Kisumu Lands and Environment Division ordered the three accused to stop any development on the plots pending hearing and determination of the case.
