Makau Mutua is a Kenyan-America professor of law.

In 1984, professor Makau graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Nairobi (UoN).

In 1985, Makau graduated with Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Dar-es-Salaam.

In 1987, the professor also earned a Master’s Degree in Law from Harvard University.

In 1996, Makau also earned another Master’s Degree in Law from the Buffalo University in New York.

After his graduation from Harvard, Makau worked for White and Case, a New York City law firm.

In 2003, Makau was appointed as the Chair of the Taskforce on the Establishment of a Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) by former President Mwai Kibaki.

In 2016, he was among the ten people who applied for the position of Chief Justice.

He was, however, not successful in the interview.

The columnist is married with children.

He also has investments in the country and in the US.

The lawyer is among those who will play a key role in the 2022 succession politics.

The professor is said to be backing Kalonzo’s 2022 presidential bid.
