Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has exposed two groups of people who he says are impoverishing Kenya.
According to the Maendeleo Chap Chap party boss, those who loot public resources and the voters who help corrupt leaders ascend to power are the reason Kenya is dying economically.
Speaking on Citizen TV's JKL Show yesterday, Mutua stated that these sections of Kenyans help corruption to flourish.
“I think about corruption every day. It is killing the future of Kenyan youth. However, the people impoverishing Kenya are we who loot public funds and we who vote for thieves,” Mutua said.
He also defended DP William Ruto against the corruption tag.
Mutua said that despite being mentioned in previous graft cases, Ruto deserves a chance to go through relevant processes before being branded corrupt.
“He should not be criminalised for every scandal. However, his history is the reason Kenyans link him to most corruption cases. When I was in government, he was mentioned in several scandals. The Ndung’u report mentioned him. There are several other cases including the Weston Hotel case,” he added.
Mutua lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for his commitment to fighting corruption.
He encouraged other leaders to support the President in fighting this development enemy.
