A Taxi driver has drawn the admiration of many social media users after he was recently captured on video ordering a traffic policewoman to alight from his car after the officer accused him of driving without a licence.

The daring driver, however, argues that he has a valid driving licence and all the traffic police officer needs to do is to verify the driver's licence details from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) app.

"I have told you I have a valid driving license. Check on the app. Or what do you think is the use of the app? It is not like I am so foolish to drive a car without a licence. We have an application called NTSA where you verify my details after I give you my ID card number," the driver is captured telling the policewoman.

The unconvinced policewoman continues to argue with the driver while still sitting inside the car prompting the seemingly irate driver to order her out of the car saying, "I am not going with you anywhere. You are not supposed to enter my car".

The cornered police officer at one point even realises that the driver is filming their heated exchange and asks the driver about it which he boldly admits before he angrily opens the door for the officer to get out.

According to the Traffic Act (CAP 403) of the laws of Kenya, "any person driving a motor vehicle on a road shall carry his driving licence or provisional licence, and, on being so required by a police officer, produce it for examination failure to which one shall be guilty of an offence and be liable to a fine not exceeding ten thousand shillings".

As to whether a police officer should enter one's car or drive it to the station, the law states, "It shall be lawful for any police officer in uniform to stop any vehicle, and for any police officer, licensing officer or inspector: to enter any vehicle; to drive any vehicle or cause any vehicle to be driven; upon reasonable suspicion of any offence under this Act, to order and require the owner of any vehicle to bring the vehicle to him...."
