Speaking at the El Borg Stadium Thursday just hours before the Stars faced the Pharaohs of Egypt, Mr Kimanzi said that there had been challenges with the accommodation as the Sports Ministry had not settled the hotel bills and they had even received a notice of eviction.

"I know there are challenges in the hotel, it has not been paid. We have gotten some notice to be evicted here." said Kimanzi.

He however said that it was good for him to stay very positive despite the challenges that him and his team were facing.

"But I would like very much to stay very positive. That is the reality and the reality is that it has not been paid and there's a lot of pressure. " Mr Kimanzi added.

Kenya's forward Michael Olunga speaking after the match which ended in a 1-1 draw, in the same stadium, encouraged the government to continue supporting Harambee Stars and Sports at large to boost the morale of the players.

"We need you know, to take care of the players so that everyone can be ready you know both mentally and physically. So you know at the end of the day is just our humble request to the government to continue standing with the national team not only football, you know, also netball, handball, rugby," said Olunga.

This scenario comes a few days after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa fired a series of salvos at Ministry of Sports Principal Secretary on Twitter alleging that he was not willing to support football.

"I said here that the holder of the PS office is not willing to support football and most sports in general," said Nick Mwendwa.

Nick Mwendwa has claimed that the principal secretary has been frustrating the national team's preparation even as questions are asked about how the money allocated for the 2019 AFCON was used.

Harambee Stars began their African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign, and hope to make it to the next edition of the continental showpiece.
