The three Members of Parliament, Joshua Kutuny (Cherangany), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) and Moiben's Silas Tiren say DP Ruto should tell Kenyans what transpired in the maize scandal.

This follows revelations that traders masqueraded as farmers and delivered imported maize to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and were promptly paid at the expense of genuine farmers.

The matter is currently still under investigations.

“We call upon you Deputy President since you are part of the problem come out clearly and be investigated, we really want to know what you have been doing about the fertilizer and maize issues,” said Keter at the Teachers Advisory Centre in Eldoret town on Saturday during a farmers' meeting.

“Deputy President must be investigated since he is the one who imported maize and fertilizers, DP has also been calling NCPB officials directing them on who to pay,” added the Cherangany MP.

Kutuny further claimed that the DP has been frustrating any petition brought to the floor of the house to help farmers through the house committees.

The three further hit out at Ruto for always talking about the 2022 succession politics instead of addressing issues affecting farmers.

“We don’t want the 2022 politics whatsoever instead we want the government to announce maize prices and when fertilizers will be brought,” said Keter.

“You recently went to Congo and we have information that you have planted over 500,000 acres of maize yet you are telling us to plant Avocados. Your aim is to tell farmers to stop planting maize so that you can get market for your maize,” claimed Tiren.
