A visibly angry Raila Odinga has launched a scathing attack to Members of Parliament for apparently shielding corrupt elements who have stolen from Kenyans.

Speaking during the burial of the late Migori Senator Ben Oluoch, Raila said MPs must be like Caesar’s wife: above suspicion and beyond reproach!

“Members of Parliament must lead by example. MPs must protect the people. If they are going to be accomplices in this, then Kenyans must think twice,” said Raila.

The opposition leader said he felt let down when he watched MPs ‘harassing’ people who are entrusted with fighting corruption while hugging those who are accused of scandals.

“Leave the investigators to arrest and prosecute these people. On the sugar probe, you find a parliamentary committee summoning the same sugar lords for grilling only to try to sanitise them," he said.

He added: “Parliament has no investigative powers. Leave this to the institutions with the manpower trained to investigate. You call people and shout at them to be seen on television that you are working. You are not doing anything useful to this country. You only want to be seen that you grilled so and so.”

The ODM leader asked MPs attending the burial to conduct themselves in a way that history will judge them well.
