Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commision officials have arrested a chief for allegedly demanding Sh100, 000 bribe.
Milimiani location Chief Sylvester Momanyi was nabbed on Friday for claiming the bribe from a widow to help her secure a letter of administration to property.
Reports indicate that EACC detectives apprehended the chief moments after receiving the money from the widow.
Momanyi is currently detained at the Kitale Police Station waiting to be arraigned in court.
The incident was confirmed by Trans-Nzoia County Commander Samson ole Kine.
“The chief had allegedly demanded the money from the woman to help her secure a latter of administration for the property left behind by her husband but instead she alerted EACC who laid a trapped and arrested him,” said Mr Kine.
The incident comes just two months after EACC officials arrested a police officer for allegedly imposing illegal levies on farmers whose livestock strayed to a farm.
