Kiala who fell out with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the run-up to the 2017 polls, said Mutua should be reinstated to enable him to complete his term.

Kiala said the governor will still win in a by-election in case the Supreme Court upholds the court of appeal's ruling.

He addressed the press in Machakos town on Thursday.

Kiala said Machakos people have confidence in Mutua than Wavinya Ndeti.

He said the former Kathiani MP is fighting a losing battle.

“Wavinya Ndeti should accept that she lost in the August 8, 2017, gubernatorial election and wait for her chance if any in 2022,” Kiala said.

Kiala said Machakos residents want development and not a by-election.

The former deputy governor fell out with Kalonzo after the Wiper leader allegedly failed to endorse his gubernatorial bid in the 2017 polls.

Kiala who has been Mutua's critic seems to have buried his political rivalry with the Maendeleo Chap Chap governor.

There are claims that Kiala could bid for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2022 on Governor Mutua’s party ticket.

The anticipated Supreme Court ruling on Governor Mutua’s appeal has raised political temperatures in Machakos with both Mutua and Wavinya Ndeti exuding the confidence of favorable results.
