And he is not eligible for reappointment as per the 2010 constitution which states that “The Inspector-General shall be appointed for a single four-year term, and is not eligible for re-appointment.”

With three months fast approaching, many will guess what his next move will be after enjoying a long and successful career serving the country as a great police officer.

Should he decide to venture into politics like his predecessor, David Kimayo then Boinnet will be fit to become the next Elgeyo Marakwet governor come 2022.

First, Alex Tolgos, the current governor is completing his second and final term and the people of Elgeyo Marakwet are still wary of who their next governor will be but with the good work Boinnet has done for this country, he is fit enough to become their next governor.

Secondly, Boinnet is a strict and a no-nonsense civil servant. This is so because at the time of his appointment, Al-Shabaab was threatening Kenya without fear and they were even about to take over some parts of the country but after his appointment, the country is now enjoying adequate security.

Thirdly, Boinnet is a great achiever in whose time at the helm saw various reforms witnessed.

Though he has distanced himself from all these legacies, many security pundits and several Kenyans will forever agree to that.

“I do not see it that way. I see all this as coming to overcome the challenges that have bedevilled our force for years. It was not for personal glory,” Boinnet recently said.

For all these, I foresee Boinnet being the next undisputed Elgeyo Marakwet governor.
